Estimate how long your recorded hay or bedding stock will last and when to reorder. Use the same unit throughout: for example, bales, bags or kilograms. Enter your yard’s observed total use; this is a stock planning tool, not a feeding recommendation.
Enter your stock figures and calculate your cover.
How the stock calculation works
Available stock = stock on hand − reservations. Days of cover = available stock ÷ entered daily use. Reorder threshold = daily use × (delivery time + buffer days).
For example, 100 bales on hand with 10 reserved leaves 90 available. At six bales per day, that is 15 days of cover. Seven delivery days plus three buffer days gives a reorder threshold of 60 bales.
Keep the estimate useful
Count physical stock regularly, update your usage rate when the yard changes, and confirm delivery dates with your supplier. Reservations are excluded from available stock; avoid counting those same commitments twice in your daily-use estimate. The threshold assumes a steady use rate and reliable delivery time.
Turn a calculation into a shared stock record
